Last week we said a temporary ‘farewell’ to our lovely preschool worker Rachel Cama, as she started her Maternity Leave. We’re going to miss her enormously and I’m pretty sure there’s some busy times ahead without her, but I can’t deny that I’m also relishing the opportunity to spend more time in our preschool groups – not just for the messy play and biscuits, but also because preschool ministry is so very important. A child’s relationship with God doesn’t begin when they start school, Psalm 139 reminds us that God loved us even before we were formed “You knit me together in my mother’s womb.”

A few years ago, researchers found that over 70% of preschool families had some contact with a church, largely through toddler groups. What a huge opportunity that is for us to share the love of Jesus with both children and adults! This year, we have registered over 200 children across our Trinity Tots groups in Meole Brace and Radbrook Green and at Little Buds Toddler Church – it’s a good job they don’t all come at once!

We’re making preschool ministries our focus for “Praying, Doing, Cheering” this month and we would love you to be praying for our weekly toddler groups as well as our monthly toddler church. As you can imagine, these busy groups are a lot of work and we desperately need some more people on our teams, might you have something to offer? And please do keep cheering us on in this exciting and really important ministry and inviting your friends and neighbours along.

If you feel called to join our team or find out more, please do get in touch – I’d love to talk to you!

Grace and Peace

Cerys Hughes, Children and Families’ Minister

This Sunday, 1st June, we’ll be meeting across our congregations to worship together.
At our morning services, we’ll be continuing to look at the work of the Holy Spirit as we approach Pentecost. Alistair Magowan is speaking at 9am ,CTK and 11am, with Ian Budd at HTBV.  It’s also Messy Church week at Holy Trinity, Belle Vue at 9am.  Sunday evening sees our monthly Presence communion service with Charles Ruxton speaking as we think about praying for one another. Trinity Youth will also be meeting at 6.30pm this Sunday but keep an eye on Instagram messages and emails for information about this.

Board Games Evening

Half Night of Prayer

We’ll be holding another half night of prayer on Monday 9th June. Please do make it a priority to attend even for half an hour. As you will no doubt have heard, there is a ‘Quiet Revival’ underway in the UK, and we are starting to see some signs of it here too. So let’s make prayer a particular priority at this time (and indeed during our own vacancy).

Ian’s Priesting: Joint Service on Sunday 29th June

What a joy it will be to host the ordination to Priesting of our very own Ian Budd on Saturday 29th June at a joint service at 10.30am. There will be no other morning services across the parish that week (though the evening service will be meeting at 6.30pm).  We’ll be following this with a ‘bring and share’ church family lunch, and you can let us know that you are coming by clicking the link below:

Parish Profile Working Group

At the APCM last Sunday one of our wardens, Jenny Surl, outlined the process of seeking our new Vicar and explained that a key part of this is preparing the parish profile, which acts a little like a job advert. A group has begun work on this document, and have started contacting various groups and ministries to help put together this profile. The period of consultation is relatively short, as we are hoping to have this prepared before the holiday season begins.

In addition to these direct approaches to groups and ministries, there will be two open meetings held on Wednesday 25th June – at 2pm (in the back of church) and at 7pm (in the Bradbury Hall) – and anyone is welcome to attend these.

Let’s keep being a church that is praying for the vacancy process, and listening to how the Lord is speaking to us.

New Wine 2025

The New Wine festival takes place at the Bath and Wells Showground from 30th July to 4th August. It’s a great opportunity to hear some great teaching and enjoy time together.  If you have already booked then please do let Fi know so that we’ve got an idea of how many of us are camping together… and if you would like to know more then do check out their website, or have a chat to Fi or others who have been before.

Safeguarding

As part of our ongoing commitment to creating an environment in which everyone, of all ages, can flourish at Trinity Churches… our regular reminder that our Safeguarding policy is available on the front page of the website.  James Boak has stepped down as a Parish Safeguarding Officer, and we are deeply thankful to him for all that he has done.  I’m delighted that the PCC have appointed Phil Lewis to be a Parish Safeguarding Officer alongside Rachel Woods, with Anne Hasnip and Fi Iddon having oversight for Safeguarding during the interregnum. If you have any questions or concerns relating to safeguarding, please don’t ever hesitate to ask them.

Trinity Life

You can find out about all this, and more, in our latest edition of Trinity Life – available in the back of church on Sunday.  It will also be on the website from later this afternoon.
