I write this as I am packing to spend a few days on retreat with all this year’s Ordinands in Lichfield Diocese, ahead of Ordinations this coming weekend. I am thankful for everyone who has welcomed, nurtured and encouraged our vocations along the way. At its heart, vocation means being called. In our church, we use the word “calling” because God is always inviting us to love, to follow, and to serve Him. In Confirmation, we’re reminded that God “calls us by name, and made us His own.” This is our very first vocation, our call to be Jesus’ followers. But our callings don’t stop there. In our everyday lives, we respond to many invitations. It may be the call to care for our families, be a great team member at work, or to be active members of our church community. Some of us feel a special pull toward serving in a more formal way, whether in ordained or lay ministries. Whether you serve in a voluntary church ministry, or through your everyday roles, as a parent, teacher, driver, accountant, nurse, or volunteer you are responding to God’s calling. Every way of serving is important as we follow our invitation as children of God to join in with God’s mission. Don’t be afraid of exploring any new nudge, sense of calling or change of direction. The journey in service and ministry is never one we travel alone. It is a shared path, discerned, prayed for and supported by our loving church family. Vocation is about answering to our invitations in every area of our lives, with each step an amazing opportunity to learn and live out God’s love and purpose. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4: 10-11) Grace and Peace Ian Budd, Curate And don’t forget to be praying, also, for Dave Latcham who will be ordained Deacon on Saturday evening at 6pm in Lichfield Cathedral. This Sunday, 29th June, we’ll be meeting as ONE morning congregation for the Ordination to Priesthood of Ian Budd. We’re hoping that CTK, HTMB, 9am, 11am and 6.30pm will all come together to support Ian in this very special service led by Bishop Sarah. There will be Trinity Kids and Pathfinders as normal. Anon are staying in the service. And there is lunch afterwards for those who have signed up…On Sunday evening, Judith Drury will be speaking on how the Spirit and the works of Jesus. Summer Welcome event Our summer welcome event for those who are new, or feeling new, takes place on Monday 30th June at 7.30pm in the Trinity Centre. Please do let us know if you would like to come; we would love to see you! Sign up for the Summer Welcome Event Monthly CTK Prayer Our regular monthly prayer meeting for CTK and our wider ministry on Radbrook takes places this Tuesday (and the first Tuesday of every month) in the Radbrook Community Cafe at 7pm for one hour. Everyone is welcome to join us. Prayer Ministry Our next prayer ministry training session, led by Alastair and Louise Magowan, will take place in church on Wednesday 16th July at 7.30pm. We want to be a church where we very naturally pray for one another and this training is useful for anyone and all are welcome. It is particularly appropriate for those who are invited to more formally become Prayer Ministers and who need to have attended this ‘post covid’ training. If you’ve been before to one of these then there is no need to come again, unless you would like to do so. Thank you to all of you who have completed this training in the past, and for your patience in waiting for things to be finished and put in place. You will have received an email this week letting you know what the ‘next stage’ in the process is…and for those of you yet to do safeguarding training, please do make this a priority. Confirmation Service A final reminder that we will be holding a Confirmation Service on Sunday 20th July during the 11am service. If you are interested in affirming your faith through confirmation during this service then please do speak to one of the ministry leaders team.
