I am sure many of you will be wondering where we are in the process of appointing a new Vicar. I am often asked who the new Vicar is, and when will they be starting?
Since the last update, the Parish Profile working group has completed their task of producing the Parish Profile. The resulting document is an amazing piece of work, and our grateful thanks go to all members of the group who worked on this.
On September 8th at an extraordinary PCC meeting the Parish Profile was formally accepted by the PPC before being sent to Bishop Sarah for approval.
The next stage was the Section 12 meeting held last Monday which was attended by Bishop Sarah and Archdeacon Nick. At this meeting Bishop Sarah approved the Parish Profile and outlined the next stages in the process: deciding on a time line, writing the advert, advertising the post, shortlisting, organising a familiarisation day and finally the interviews.
After much discussion the PCC decided for many practical reasons to advertise the post in the first week of January. This means we will not be interviewing in December as we felt that doing so may dissuade some candidates from applying.
Please continue to pray for all those who are prompted to apply for the post, for our Parish Representatives Rachel Woods and Martin Witherington, for our ministry team and all those who have taken on additional work during the interregnum.
Grace and Peace
Anne Hasnip, on behalf of the Church Wardens

This Sunday, 21st September, we are beginning a short three week series on our response to God’s generosity to us (the final week of which is our Harvest celebration). At 9am and 11am our speaker will be Fi Iddon with Alistair Magowan speaking at HTBV. CTK have a visit from Bishop Sarah. In the evening we will be continuing our series looking at Parables of the Kingdom, and Alex Aldous will be speaking. Trinity Youth will be meeting at 6.30pm upstairs in the Trinity Centre as they continue the Bible Course together.
Celebrating the Life of Mike Haddaway
For those of you coming to the service of thanksgiving for Mike’s life at noon today, a reminder that we are asking Church family to be mindful of those travelling a greater distance and who will benefit from parking closer to Church. The Brooklands pub have kindly offered us use of their car park, and have asked that we park by the fence to leave room for their customers. You can then make the short walk up to Church from here.
Big Sunday Lunch

Big Sunday lunch takes place this week following the 11am service, including a group who will meet in the Bradbury Hall. If you would like to be part of this then you can sign up via the website.

Apple Day
It’s not long now until Apple Day, which is such a wonderful annual community event. Come along for a hog roast, live music, apple cafe, apple games and apple crafts. We are still looking for some help with this event, particularly with crafts and the cafe. If you might be able to help for an hour or so during the event, or indeed with set up and pack down, then please do speak to Rachel Woods or get in touch with the Church Office.
Alpha
Our next Alpha course begins in October and we would love to invite anyone who would like to explore the Christian faith in an environment where there is plenty of room for questions and discussion. Please do be thinking about whether this is something you would appreciate, or whether there are people you know who would welcome an invitation.
