Stewardship at Trinity Churches
Why we Give?
Jesus often spoke about money and showed us what it really means to be generous. The way we use our money has an important effect on our relationship with God. The Bible encourages us to give generously, as part of our worship and in response to what God has done for us. Giving is an act of faith, and part of our discipleship. It’s both a privilege and a responsibility for all God’s people.
The Bible gives us some practical guidelines on how Christians should give:
Regularly
At set times, whether weekly, monthly or yearly (see 1 Corinthians 16 v 2a)
Willingly
Not reluctantly, or under compulsion (see 2 Corinthians 9 v 7a)
Joyfully
God loves a cheerful giver! (see 2 Corinthians 9 v 7b)
Realistically
In proportion to our income – (see 1 Corinthians 16 v 2b)
Generously
Whoever sows generously will also reap generously (see 2 Corinthians 9 v 6)
Sacrificially
(See Mark 12:43-44)
Many Christians say that 10% – a “tithe” of our income – is a good starting point in your giving. Whatever sacrificial step of faith you make in giving, God will honour your willingness. If you currently give 5% of your income, ask God to give you the courage to increase that percentage to say 8%. If you already give 8% then ask God to give you faith to increase that to 10%. If 10% then 15%…
How can I give?
Regular standing Order
Many people give this way. You can ask your bank to make regular (e.g. monthly) payments from your account directly into the churches’ bank account. It’s simple and easy to to do.
If you already give in this way, it’s good to review the amount on a regular basis (e.g. yearly). Could you increase your gift in line with inflation? Have your earnings increased (or reduced)?
To set up or amend a standing order, log in to your online banking or notify your local branch with our bank account details:

Please note there are small administrative charges (2.2% + 20p) connected with every donation, and you will have the option to ‘top up’ your donation to include these should you wish. Unless otherwise requested, please mark your donation as “Regular Giving”.
Leaving a Legacy
Christians have been worshipping in the parish of Meole Brace for at least 1,000 years! Each new generation has heard the good news about Jesus and thousands of lives have been changed. Many people like to consider leaving a gift in their will, so that future generations can continue to be blessed by the work of Trinity Churches. We always advise you to take independent legal advice before you make or amend your will.
Payroll Giving
If you are in regular paid employment, you may be able to give to Trinity Churches through payroll schemes, such as Give as you Earn or Charities Aid Foundation.
Making a one-off gift
You may want to make a special gift – perhaps as a way of saying thank you to God, or to celebrate a special event. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can also use Gift Aid to ensure that your regular gifts benefit from a 25% uplift at no extra cost to you!
Weekly Envelope Scheme
Some give regularly by cash or cheque using numbered envelopes, placed in the collection plate at Sunday services. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can also use Gift Aid to ensure that your regular gifts benefit from a 25% uplift at no extra cost to you!
