A BIG Birthday in Meole Brace

Last month we had a BIG birthday! The weekend of June 15th-16th was our 150th anniversary where we celebrated the current church building of Holy Trinity, Meole Brace turning 150 years old (although there has been a church building there for a lot longer). How incredible to think that our church family have been meeting to worship and share life together decade after decade whilst being shaped to live out faith hope and love in their everyday lives and reaching out into their communities.
There was an afternoon tea organised by the 9am congregation on the Saturday (where lots of cake was eaten). And there were fun games that the Victorians would have played including the dangerous ‘snap dragon’ (no injuries were reported on the day) – look it up if you haven’t already heard of it!
On Sunday morning it was ‘Back in Time’ where many folk stepped into the shoes of their ancestors quite literally by dressing up! Have a look at some of our church members from all life stages decked out in their historic regalia.
Even some of our Staff Team got creative with their costumes!
Here is to the next 150 years of seeing this building lovingly used by generations to come. Perhaps one day future generations will be taking a look at some of these photos as they look back on church life at Holy Trinity in the 21st century?!!
Thank you to Jim Robinson for taking the photographs.
