Remembrance Sunday 2017

This year Remembrance Sunday is on 12th November 2017. At each of our services across the parish we’ll be marking that, and finding ways to remember, reflect and pray for peace. As usual at the 9am Holy Trinity service we’ll be reading out the list of those people from the local area who lost their lives in the two world wars. I always find this immensely moving, particularly having done a bit of work finding out where some of these people lived. Walk up and down the roads of the parish and you’ll find their families.  Here are just a few: George Dodd, serving with the 5th Field Company Australian Engineers. He was killed in action on 28th May 1918. His parents – Thomas and Sarah Dodd – lived......

Events coming up - book online

A friend reminded me today that “there are only 56 days to go till Christmas.” When I was younger that would fill me with joy, but as vicar I get a whole mixture of emotions from the excitement of December to the panic of how much there is to do! Meanwhile November sees a number of events taking place in the life of Trinity Churches. Have a look below for more details, from Pumpkin Parties to Diocesan conferences, Big Sunday Lunches to a new Messy Church taking place in Café Connect.  You can find out more by clicking on individual events, as well as by contacting the Church Office on 01743 362399. info@trinitychurches.org  ...

God's amazing family - sharing the peace?

This last Sunday Charlotte did a really great sermon as part of our series on the book of Ezra. She talked about living with opposition, and what it might look like for us to be life-givers with our words and our actions. Towards the end she talked about “sharing the peace” in a way that got lots of us thinking. Here it is… _____________ I love the way we Anglicans ‘share the peace’ before communion. It’s a great opportunity to say ‘hello’ to that friend who you haven’t seen for a while sitting over the other side of church! But what is it really for? It’s for making peace with one another before we come to the Lord’s table! Have a look at these great ideas from www.thechurchsofa.co.uk on......

Community Apple Day - Saturday 30th September

Final plans are coming together for this year’s Community Apple Day, taking place in the Trinity Centre on Saturday 30th September from 12.30pm. Apple Day is an event for all the community, young and old alike. It is jointly organised between Holy Trinity and the Windfall Project, a social enterprise working with adults with a Learning Disability which makes delicious jams and chutney. It is a chance to get together to celebrate harvest and God’s goodness to us all, through the medium of the small and humble apple. There is a lot to do on Apple Day. Have a go at pressing apples with our team of pressers. Don’t forget to bring your apples and a container or two to transport your juice home in. If you haven’t got your own apples......

Harvest Connect Two - Now Out

Three times each year we produce a glossy magazine called “Connect 2” which is available to everyone who comes to church, as well as in the Trinity Centre and Café Connect. It is also delivered to 3000+ homes across the parish of Meole Brace and Radbrook Green. It’s been interesting this year to be thinking of the new homes cropping up in various parts of the parish. New streets. New families. New friends. We’re looking forward to dropping off Connect 2 in these new houses, and praying for the people who live there as we do so. Pick up your copy from church. And take a bundle home for your street and workplace.  In the meantime, see below for an online sneak preview?  ...

Discipleship Central - Autumn 2017

God is calling us to become whole-life and whole-hearted disciples. It was Dallas Willard who said discipleship is simply recognising that “Jesus knows how to live your life better than you do.”  We’re committed to that as a parish, and finding ways of supporting people of all ages to walk this journey with Christ together. Discipleship Central is a monthly opportunity to help us do that across the parish. We’ll be meeting once a month on a Thursday evening, beginning at 745pm in the Trinity Centre. We’ll start with cake, coffee, a welcome, worship and time to pray. Then from 8.15pm to 930pm we’ll have some time in smaller learning groups, with opportunities to grow faith, develop gifts and learn together. The four learning groups include (1) Faith Pictures,......

Soul Food

SOUL FOOD is about grown-up praying. Like every relationship, our prayer needs to grow.       Soul Food is a chance to pay some attention to our prayer lives. The commitment is to six days or twelve evenings this autumn/winter, to journey with a small group of others aiming to find an authentic way of praying at this time in life.   Some comments from people who have been involved on previous courses: “It met my expectation on many levels and I will miss being a part of it”. “It was amazing and such a privilege to journey with the others in this course”. “I listen to God more – I don’t talk as much”. “The course has re-vitalised my own prayer-life”. “The key thing for me has......
