Connect 2 - the Easter 2017 version is now ready

God’s amazing family? Holy week activities? Easter giveaways? Classic car shows? Dementia-friendly cafe? We’ve got all that, and a little bit more too, in our Easter 2017 edition of Connect 2. We’re really looking forward to the latest edition “hitting the shelves” on Sunday 2nd April. Copies will be available in church at all services, as well as Cafe Connect, The Trinity Centre, and various other community locations around the place.  Of course the greatest gift is that they are also delivered to every home in the parish of Meole Brace and Radbrook Green. We are so grateful to the army of people who get involved in this work, and walk up and down the streets of the local community. Thank you. You are amazing. Can’t wait to get......

"Fuelled up and ready to go"

A decent fry-up. Copious cups of coffee. Great company. And an inspiring start to the weekend. What’s not to like? Our next Men’s Breakfast returns with guest speaker Adam Gompertz on Saturday 6th May 2017, 830am – 10am in the Trinity Centre. Adam will be known to many of us as “the other half” of team Gompertz. He is an ordained priest working just west of Shrewsbury, but also is developing exciting projects in his work as an automobile artist, car designer and general “car boffin.” His subject will be “Fuelled up and ready to go.” We usually describe the men’s breakfast as being “amusing, inspiring and challenging” with equal measure. We hope you’ll come and join us for an event which promises to be all three. Tickets cost......

Easter Egg Appeal

Shrewsbury Homes for All is a local registered charity, working to ensure that people in the Shrewsbury area are adequately housed. They offer free housing advice and information, and work alongside many other local groups concerned with the needs of the homeless.   Trinity Churches need your help! We are hoping to collect 70 Easter eggs for “Shrewsbury Homes for All” and their families. Please could you donate an Easter egg for our appeal? Please bring the Easter egg to Café Connect by Thursday 6th of April. Your help would be much appreciated.  ...

2017 Updating the Electoral Roll

We’ve been thinking about “God’s amazing family ” for the last few months as a church. God’s call to us to be living life together, learning and growing in God together, and inviting others to become part of this family more fully. One of the things about family life is looking out for each other, and this gets a whole lot easier if we find ways of communicating and keeping in touch. One of the ways we do this is with the “electoral roll”. This is a way of saying “I belong” to the life of the church, as well as opening up ways to get involved in supporting and serving each other across Trinity Churches. The bottom line is this. If you attend Trinity Churches regularly, and would......

Rhythms of Grace - Lent 2017

We’re nearly a fortnight into Lent now, and it’s been great to be spending some time on Sundays and midweek looking at the “Rhythms of Grace” again. The vicar has even coined a new word, “transf-imitation”, which is that dynamic of God transforming us as we imitate him. There are a wealth of resources available which we’ve built up over the years. Dave Bruce’s work in 2014 – including the Discipleship MOT – is still available online. And this year Charles Ruxton has written some really excellent material on “Growth Groups”, and also to accompany the five rhythms of grace. You can download the new material by clicking on the links below, or access the whole range of resources… ...

Shrewsbury Food Hub

A few months ago we introduced the amazing work of Shrewsbury Food Hub. Let’s hear an update from them of some of the work they do locally… If you’ve ever walked past Meole Brace Memorial Hall first thing you’ll see an amazing sight as crates of food are carried out into the half-light of the morning. Each crate is destined to end up at one of at least thirty local organisations they support, including the Severn Hospice,  Shrewsbury Ark, Food Bank Plus and school breakfast clubs across the area. The idea is simple – and profound. Food is taken from local supermarkets, and then redistributed to local groups in need. Instead of food going to waste, it finds a good home instead. Over their first six months 10,000 meals......

Lent is coming - Introducing Growth Groups

Alongside talk of giving up chocolate and various other apparent vices, Lent can also be a time for taking on disciplines which help us to live for Jesus more fruitfully. This Lent we’re offering an opportunity to be part of a “Growth Group”. The purpose of these groups is mutual encouragement: a kind of cheering on in our walk with God, recognising the realities of life as it really is! The groups are deliberately small (3 or 4 people) to give members the chance to explore these realities more fully. The idea is to meet once a week over the five weeks of Lent before Holy Week (basically March plus the first week of April). The group could be a family or a group of friends or homegroup members.......

Meet Abigail...

We’re really pleased that this month sees the arrival of a new member of the staff team. Called Abigail Liew, she will be with us for twelve months as part of the St Chads volunteer programme, the partnership between the Diocese of Lichfield and the Diocese of West Malaysia. February 2017 prayer diary - now out

Our latest prayer diary – February 2017 – is now out. Pick up a copy from church, or download one online by following the link below. This month’s prayer diary focuses on the persecuted church. Open Doors – one of the leading supporters of people who suffer for their faith – produce a World Watch List of the 50 most affected countries. We follow some of them, day by day, from 28th position to 1st. May this prompt our own prayers, in thankfulness, or stimulate thoughts of that country’s place in the world. Download the prayer diary by clicking here. Find out more about Open Doors here.    ...
