Fruitfulness on the frontline - new morning sermon series

What would life look like if we were more able to make a difference in our everyday lives? How can we show and share Christ’s wisdom and love with the people we meet out in the places we usually find ourselves – at the shops or the gym, at work or at the schoolgate? In our morning services after Easter we are going to be reflecting further on this by looking at what it means to be ‘fruitful disciples.’ Using some fantastic new material written by Mark Green and the London Institute for Contemporary Christianity (LICC), we’ll be thinking about what it means to live as disciples on the ‘frontlines’ of our lives. Small groups will be given the opportunity to reflect on these issues further midweek, using a......

Incredible Edible boost to churchyard

Our community is set to benefit thanks to the beginnings of an innovative project, in the churchyard. The churchyard in Holy Trinity, Meole Brace has set aside some currently unused land to grow soft fruit for the local community, as part of an ‘Incredible Edible’ project. Pictured planting the first fruit bushes are pupils at Meole Brace Primary School, who are getting behind the project, along with the Meole Brace Secondary School, Meole Brace Garden and Allotment Club and members of the congregations at the church. With funding obtained by Shropshire Council, the plan is to produce a variety of soft fruit, raising awareness of food growing and encourage community involvement. One project that hopes to benefit is the Windfall Project, who teach cooking skills to people with learning......

Celebrating the work of TMAC

At TMAC (Trinity Money Advice Centre) we have a compassionate heart for the poor and exist to provide debt advice and practical help to those in need. Our advisors meet with the clients and gather all of the relevant paperwork needed to negotiate a repayment plan for the client with their creditors. If you are at a loose end and have some spare time then why not volunteer to help at our money advice centre? I can hear you saying:  ‘But I don’t have the right skills and I’m definitely not very good with money!’ Don’t worry, we offer full support and......

Closing in on the world record - Big Promise Success

We are waiting to hear formally that we have claimed its place in the Guinness Book of Records. Holy Trinity church in Meole Brace was one of hundreds of churches across the UK, who hosted the ‘Big Promise’ an attempt to see the most number of couples renew their wedding vows simultaneously. Phil Cansdale, said. ‘Over 40 couples joined us on 8 Feb to renew their vows on what was a very special evening.  We welcomed both those who had been married very recently and those who had been together for many years, including one couple who ‘tied the knot’ at Holy Trinity Meole Brace over fifty years ago.  The current world record stands at just under 1,100 couples renewing their promises at the same time, but Phil was......

Discipleship MOT

Every year we take our cars in for an MOT to check they are still roadworthy and to identify any issues that need attending to, and many of us will have a health check-up too, to see if we have any physical problems which need attention. But what about our spiritual health? How often do we stop and review how we are doing as a follower of Jesus? This Lent we are offering everybody the chance of such a check-up through our ‘Discipleship MOT.’ The MOT is largely based on the 5 Rhythms of Grace that we as a church have been using as a helpful discipleship framework over the last 18 months. The MOT consists of a series of questions which you are encouraged to find some space......

Soul Purpose Christmas

Soul Purpose once again offered a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, together with much more, at the Trinity Centre – Fi Iddon (10.45) who was one of those organising the event, reflects on Soul Purpose Christmas 2013. It’s always both a pleasure and a struggle to report back on Soul Purpose Christmas… a pleasure because the day has so many highlights, but it’s often a struggle to attempt to articulate these! Perhaps part of the struggle comes because the greatest joy is one of a loving atmosphere – it’s hard to describe this, but we know it when we feel it. The Trinity Centre was full of joy, acceptance, love and friendship on Christmas Day, and those who came knowing no-one left with new friends.  We have really......
