Changes in services on 3rd January 2021

It is with real sadness that I’m letting you know that our Sunday morning services on 3rd January will not be taking place as planned. In making this decision we are taking into account the recent significant rise in COVID infections, advice from the Church of England, and our shared commitment to safeguard the wellbeing of everyone coming to church. I know this will come as a disappointment to some, but speaking to many people this last few days they are expressing very legitimate concerns about being in larger gatherings.
As we did in November, we will instead be meeting online for a 10.30am service broadcast live from Holy Trinity Meole Brace. You can find us in two different ways from five minutes before the service begins:
- Facebook “Trinity Churches Shrewsbury“
- Go to our website trinitychurches.org and click the “join us online” button which will take you to the service without having to go via Facebook.
For those without internet access we will also be releasing a special new year “Phone Church” which you can join in with by dialling 01743 298249 at any stage of the day or night. Meanwhile our youth and childrens work will remain online over these next few days, including Pyjama Church which will go out at 9.30am on Sunday morning. And next week sees small groups starting up, and preparations for the “Wellbeing Journey” which starts on 12th January.
Meanwhile we will also be seeking to open church for private prayer for at least one time each week, and so look out for details of that in my Monday email. I know the important place that Meole Church holds in many of our hearts, and we do want it to continue to be a place where you can come and pray.
Cancelling services is not an easy decision to make, and you’ll understand the late notice of making it with advice and policy coming thick and fast these last days. It’s most likely that we’ll be continuing online for all of January, but we will be reviewing this regularly. Do please be in touch with Fi Iddon, one of the wardens or myself if you have any questions or concerns.
