Elaine Storkey’s sermons

At our recent Trinity Churches joint service our distinguished guest speaker, Elaine Storkey stirred our thoughts as she spoke biblically, with power and clarity and encouraged us to stand against the violence towards women which is a global issue – and that includes our own country.
In her recent book ‘Scars Across Humanity’ Elaine states that the statistics tell us that acts of violence against women across the globe produce more deaths, disability and mutilation than cancer, malaria and traffic accidents combined. And the truth is that these deaths will not make headline news.
You can listen to Elaine’s talks on our website trinitychurches.org/sermons and I pray that having listened you will be moved to ask the question as many have asked: ‘What can I do that would be of any significance?‘
In Mathew 13 Jesus tells in the parable of the mustard seed of how the smallest insignificant seed grows to become a large tree. Your seemingly insignificant act of writing a letter to your local MP for example, could become part of a huge change to our countries law and attitudes of our government or world leaders on how they choose to stand against this worldwide issue.
If you would like more information or assistance on how to write a letter take a look at these websites:
Finally, please can I urge you to pray.
Psalm 107:28-30 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.
