Fi Iddon – our new Associate Vicar

We are thrilled to announce today that Revd Fi Iddon is going to be our new Associate Vicar. She’ll be working with us as a team across the parish, and will bring a wealth of experience of ministry and mission to our shared life at Trinity Churches.
Many of you will know Fi, who along with Simon, Bekah and Josiah have been part of Shrewsbury church life for many years. Since 2017 she has been serving her curacy at St George’s Frankwell, as well as a role as chaplain at University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS). She will continue in that position at UCS for a day a week, alongside the new half-time role of Associate Vicar here in the parish.
Fi writes “I’m very much looking forward to taking up this role within Trinity Churches. Although I will miss the lovely people of St George’s this feels in many ways like ‘coming home’. I’m both excited and humbled to be serving alongside Phil and the rest of the team, and look forward to worshipping with you all (albeit virtually!) soon.”
Phil Cansdale writes “I’m so pleased that Fi has accepted this invitation from Bishop Sarah to be serving her next role here as Associate Vicar. This feels very timely. Firstly the COVID crisis means that we will need considerable wisdom and creativity as together we explore new ways of doing and being church in the future. And secondly – given my Area Dean role and increasing responsibilities for church life across our town and beyond – Fi’s appointment brings a strengthening to the life of our ministry leadership team here in the parish.”
Fi’s Licensing will take place on Thursday 16th July 2020 at 7pm. You are all invited, though inevitably this will be via ZOOM rather than in person! For the meantime, please do hold Fi and her family in your prayers, alongside the community of St George’s Frankwell where she has worshipped and University Centre Shrewsbury where she will continue to serve.
Phil Cansdale, Vicar
