Holiday at Home prompts poem
‘During August around 30 guests came to the Bradbury Hall for a three day ‘Holiday at Home’
The event was filled with entertainment and fun for our senior folk within our community. There was so much laughter due to the unforgettable jokes. In the church we had set up prayer stations for our guests to engage with God, which a good number of then did.
On the final day a trip to RAF Cosford Air museum was organised for cream teas; a good time was had by all, so much so that one guest was enthused to write a poem.
‘I cannot imagine the planning and time spent
Trying to arrange such a wonderful 3 day event
With tea, coffee, biscuits and trifle with cream.
We had games and puzzles so just take a chance,
That after lunch we had music so we had a dance.
All to quick we had reached day three
A visit to Cosford museum for the aircraft to see.
There was a simulator, you sat in a pod
Then our reconnaissance, once our great Nimrod.
But the Dornier dredged from the ocean floor
That was of great interest and made me think more.
Flown from Germany the aim to bomb our land,
only to be brought down, lost in the sea and the sand.
We must remember all the lives lost
With countries at war there is a great cost.
But ours was a day to reflect and to roam
Arranged by all to have a Holiday at Home.
So we thank God, no sirens sound
and that all those planes stay on the ground.
So it is a big thanks I say to you all.
For a wonderful event held in Trinity Church Hall’

We look forward to this event happening in 2015, so please look out for the advertising and ask yourself this question, do I have a friend, relative or neighbour who would enjoy the company and fun at Holiday at Home and how do I invite them?
