Meet Abigail…

We’re really pleased that this month sees the arrival of a new member of the staff team. Called Abigail Liew, she will be with us for twelve months as part of the St Chads volunteer programme, the partnership between the Diocese of Lichfield and the Diocese of West Malaysia.
Abby is from Penang, a city in the north of the country, and will be arriving in the UK in the middle of February, fresh from celebrating Chinese New Year. Here she introduces herself…
Hi! My name is Abigail, currently living in Penang, Malaysia. I grew up in a Christian home and am the eldest of 2 girls in the family. My home church – Christ our Peace Church is currently an outreach parish, having only been set up 3 months ago. I graduated from Curtin University of Technology, Australia in 2012 with a Bachaelor’s Degree in Commerce. I have served with Operation Mobilisation (OM) in different times of my life. In 2011, I joined the Ship’s Ministry as a short-termer for 2 months. In 2013, I served with OM South Africa for 1 year and 6 months in a missions training base in Pretoria. After coming home to Penang in 2014, I have since worked and travelled when I can.
Please do be looking out for Abby, and let’s help her to feel really welcome here in Shrewsbury and as part of our church family. She’ll be involved in a number of different areas of church and community life, including youth and childrens ministry, Café Connect, worship, young adults etc…
