Running Church – Spring 2016

Running Church - Spring 2016

Walk…jog… and run 0-5 with us in 2016.  We’d love to invite you along.

Come along and be part of a couch-5k group, aiming to go all-out at the Shrewsbury ParkRun at Easter 2016. We’ll be using the NHS Change 4 Life “Couch to 5k” app, as well as getting the experience of Youth Minister Matt Guilder, who is a UKA qualified Athletics Coach.

It’s completely free:

  • one coached session each week (Thursdays 8.15pm – 9pm)
  • two self-led or peer sessions each week
  • Free T-shirts for those who attend and complete our programme. (subject to conditions)

couchCouch to 5K is a free nine-week running plan for people who want to be more active. It’s perfect if you’re new to running – the plan is all about starting slowly and building up gradually. Anyone can start Couch to 5K – you don’t need to be fit! Thousands of people have tried Couch to 5k and been amazed by the results – now it’s your turn to give it a go!

We will then complete the 5k at Shrewsbury parkrun on Saturday 26th March 2016, thus linking you with another community too.

Weekly Plan:

Each week we will meet at 8:15pm at Holy Trinity Church Meole Brace- Car Park. We’ll start with a team briefing and an explanation of that week’s session. After 30 minutes of walking and running we’ll conclude with a debrief.

You’ll need to bring suitable running clothes taking into account the weather, and a stopwatch or phone with the “Coach to 5k” app loaded.

The Sessions:

week one: Thursday 21st Jan

week two: Thursday 28th Jan

week three: Thursday 4th Feb

week four: Thursday 11th Feb

week five: Thursday 18th Feb

week six: Thursday 25th Feb

week seven: Thursday 3rd Mar

week eight: Thursday 11th Mar

week nine: Thursday 24th Mar

Saturday 26th March: 5k run with friends at Shrewsbury parkrun (8.45am Meet)
