Shrewsbury Christmas Festival

Shrewsbury Christmas Festival

Dear Friends,

Planning for Christmas yet?! We are very aware that for many of us in local churches, the festive season is already on the radar. Forgive the early letter, but we’d like to let you know about an upcoming Mission opportunity, and we would be delighted if you felt able to join in!

You may have seen publicity regarding ‘Shrewsbury Christmas’, a festival that will take place in Shrewsbury Quarry over the weekend of the 12th & 13th December 2015. We have been in negotiations with the organisers, and have secured a pitch for local churches. We’d love to use this occasion to bless and engage with those there, and to witness the love of Christ that is the heart of the Christmas story. We hope to have representation from as many of the churches in Shrewsbury as possible.

The main feature will be an ‘inn’ to welcome people into, where they can participate in a variety of activities including dressing up as a character from the nativity and having their photo taken.  We’d also like to provide people with information about local church services and festive events.

As Christmas is a very busy time, and with so many amazing ministries going on in churches across Shrewsbury, we would also like to encourage you to share any resources you are already using to help spread the Good News.

We’d love it if you would:

  • Consider signing up for a two hour slot, between 9.30am – 5.30pm to help out over the festival weekend. As a representative of the collective church in Shrewsbury, you will be asked to invite people in, be friendly and encourage them to engage with the activities, giving them the brochure as they leave.

We hope that you will join us and ask that you respond as soon as possible to help us plan this event well. We would like to receive all offers of help by the end of November 2015, which will give us plenty of time to liaise with everybody.

The organisers of Shrewsbury Christmas have also asked if we will make you aware of the opportunity to help as festival stewards, should you wish to contribute to the festival as a whole and we have also attached the form for you to complete, should you feel able to help in this way. They are particularly keen to point out that they are very willing to supply references afterwards for anyone that needs them.

Thank you so much for your time. We look forward to working with you as we bear witness to the hope and joy that is to be found in Jesus.

Yours In Christ,
