If you see me looking more weary than usual this week, it’s because I’ve just returned from our annual School Ventures weekend, with over 70 energetic Year 4’s!
School Ventures, run by CPAS, offers an amazing opportunity for children to experience a weekend away with school staff and local church volunteers, exploring the core claims of the Christian faith.
Over 3 days and 2 nights, the children took on the role of detectives to solve The Case of The Empty Tomb. We enjoyed interactive sessions and small group investigations alongside outdoor games, and activities including climbing, caving and archery. We sang, did loads of crafts and art, enjoyed a campfire, movie night, magic show and reflective prayer stations. We even filled our breaktimes with wool crafts, paper crafts and of course football, basketball, table tennis and table football too. Phew! It’s no wonder we all returned exhausted!
As I nurse my aching feet, I don’t underestimate what a huge privilege it is for us to be able to lead this event each year, helping children to try something new, witnessing them facing fears and being proud of their achievements, developing friendships, wondering together about faith and sharing in the truth of the God that made and loves us all. We are hugely thankful for an amazing team of volunteers that worked their socks off, and those back at home who held us in prayer over the weekend.
No time to rest, though; the next cohort are already looking forward to School Ventures 2026! There are some big questions around funding and logistics for next year, so please do be praying about this, and if you feel God nudging you towards joining the most creative, hardworking, adventurous and exciting team, please do get in touch!
Cerys Hughes, (a very tired) Children and Families Minister
We’ll be gathering this Sunday, 16th March, across our parishes as we continue our series on Practicing the Way, thinking this week about ‘Doing what Jesus did: Solitude’
At 9am, CTK and 11am our speaker is Neville Willerton, with Keith Moore speaking at HTBV. In the evening at 6.30pm Judith Drury will be speaking about how Jesus prays . Trinity Youth will also be meeting at 6.30pm.
Big Sunday Lunch
Our next Big Sunday lunch is happening this Sunday. This is a great opportunity to meet with others in the church and enjoy food and fellowship together. If you are in a group then invitations should hopefully be winging their way to you… if you aren’t in a group and would like to be then you can sign up below, and join the group that is meeting in the Bradbury Hall.
Deanery Synod
Deanery Synod meets this week in an open meeting as we think through how we live out our calling as disciples to steward the world God has given us. Much of the evening will be led by Rob Surl and Hannah Lins, and everyone is very welcome to join us. Half Night of Prayer
Hopefully you’ll all know by now that this is coming up on Wednesday 26th March. We want to be a church who are prayerful and seeking God; and particularly so during the interregnum. Please do make it a priority to be there. We hope that most people will be able to join us for at least half an hour during the evening. We’ll be publishing a programme for the evening over the next few days.
Baptism at Trinity Churches
We’re beginning to make plans for Easter and we would love to offer the opportunity for Baptism, or reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows, on Easter Sunday. Please do speak to Fi, or to a member of the Ministry Leaders team, if this is something you might be interested in exploring. We would LOVE to chat to you! Trinity Life
You can find out about all this, and more, in our latest edition of Trinity Life – available both in the back of church and online.
