Weekly Email w/b 10th June 2024

As I sat looking out of the car window to the grounds of a community centre, I noticed a very small bush that has beautiful green leaves but what struck me the most was the many red beautiful flowers that were hidden in it and very close to the soil. At first glance I didn’t even notice these flowers but the longer I was looking at the bush, the more I started to notice them and the more I appreciated the beauty of the bush.

In Ecclesiastes 3:1 it tells us “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens“. There are seasons in our lives that we get very busy wishing there are 48 hours in the day, but there should be also times when we can stop, be still and allow God to refresh our souls, bodies and minds. Time to enjoy the beauty around us so that we don’t miss the beautiful red flowers in the small bush.

This is why summertime is so precious to many of us. Where the pace of life seems a bit slower, families can enjoy more time together and we get many opportunities for fun activities.

One of the great events that happens over the Summer is Holiday at Home , which is a three days event packed with quizzes, live music , afternoon teas, live demonstrations and much more. And what better way to finish the event than a trip to Barmouth beach to enjoy sun, sand and fish and chips. The trip is open to families to join and create new memories together. You will find below more information about how to book!

This sunday.jpg

This Sunday sees us kick off a few weeks introducing our new “more like Jesus” values. Phil Cansdale will be speaking at the 9am service, CTK and then the 11am services, and Keith Moore will be speaking at Holy Trinity Belle Vue. We’ll be looking at the first of our values, “pioneering”, as we go deeper in being part of a church who are proclaiming the gospel afresh in every generation.

At the evening 630pm service Fi Iddon will be speaking on the fourth session of our look at the Sermon on the Mount, and Jesus’ amazing teaching in the gospel of Matthew.

We were so pleased to hear from mission partners Jon and Elise Fletcher last weekend as they prepare to go back to Bangkok in early August.

The Fletcher family are hosting an evening on Friday 28th June in the Trinity Centre. This is an opportunity to share a Thai meal together, enjoy a Thai-related quiz, and to find out more about their work in Bangkok. Two-thirds of the sixty tickets have now been sold, so please book in as soon as you can!

Ian Budd's ordination in Lichfield on Saturday 29th June.jpg

Our new curate Ian Budd moved in this last week to Shrewsbury along with wife Kate and son James. If you would like to come to his ordination service at Lichfield Cathedral on Saturday 29th June at 6pm then please do let us know below so we can let the Cathedral know numbers. It would be great if some of us can be there to support him as he begins his ministry with us.

People are coming for all three days, or just choose to come to one or two days. What ever you decide – you definitely don’t want to miss it!
