This Sunday is Safeguarding Sunday, which is a yearly invitation for Churches to remember our Biblical imperative to caring and protecting all God’s people, and to make sure that safeguarding remains high on our agenda. Safeguarding simply means the practical and relational work of keeping everyone – especially children, young people, and adults who may be vulnerable – safe from harm, abuse or neglect and creating a culture where all can flourish and live life in all its fullness.

Proverbs 31: 8 reminds us to, ‘Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves’, and doing so is an important part of what it means to be followers of Jesus Christ.  We know that the church hasn’t always done this well, and we lament this deeply.  But alongside an awareness of this harm, and repentance for the culture that allowed it to take place, we want to join with churches across the country in committing afresh to keeping safeguarding at the forefront of all that we do.

Over recent weeks, our Safeguarding Core Group has met to review some of the ways in which we continue to create a culture that reflects the importance of safeguarding here at Trinity, including making our commitment to safeguarding more visible around the church. Checks, training and policies are hugely important in safeguarding but we know that creating a culture of safeguarding is vital.  We’re also working towards being able to have some ‘in person’ training sessions, as we know that online training is a barrier for some of us. PCC meet on Monday night, and safeguarding is a standing item at every meeting.

As always, a reminder that if you have any concerns about safeguarding then please do speak to our safeguarding officers: Rachel Woods and Phil Lewis, or to Fi Iddon or Anne Hasnip.  And please do pray for our Safeguarding Officers (as we’ll be doing in our services on Sunday); they carry a heavy burden and do so willingly, prayerfully and with great wisdom.

Grace and Peace

Fi Iddon, Associate Vicar

This Sunday,
16th November, we’ll be continuing our journey through Colossians in our morning services as we think about Working for Jesus. At 9am, 11am and CTK our speaker will be Keith Moore, with Fi Iddon speaking at Holy Trinity, Belle Vue.  The evening sees us continue our series on Parables of the Kingdom, and Alistair Hornal will be speaking to us. Trinity Youth will be meeting at 6.30pm upstairs in the Trinity Centre..

PA Training

We are so blessed to have a new and (almost) gremlin free PA at Holy Trinity, along with wonderful people to operate it. There is still one more session (in the early evening) for people who might be interested in learning a bit more – no strings attached. If this is you, then please do get in touch with the office.

Midweek Communion

Once a month, on the third Thursday, we gather in church for a short midweek communion service, followed by tea and coffee.  It’s a very special time of worship and fellowship – do come along if you are able, or encourage others who might appreciate doing so.

Leaf Clearing

The Autumn leaves may look beautiful, but they do need to be cleared up! We’re having our annual leaf clearing morning on Saturday 22nd November, and would value any help that you can offer… many hands make light work!

Advent Stalls

On 23rd November, in-between the 9am and 11am, and after the 11am service, we’ll be having our usual selection of Advent stalls with Illuminate, Fair Trade, Windfall, Faithful Pages, Rachel’s cards and Izzy’s cakes making an appearance. There will be access to a card machine. This is a great opportunity to support some local producers and other charities associated with our Church Family – as well as doing a bit of Christmas shopping!

Big Sunday Lunch

Sunday 23rd November also sees the Big Sunday Lunch. If you are already in a group then an invitation should be winging it’s way to you over the next week or so. If you aren’t in a group and would like us to find some space around a table then please do sign up via the website or give the office a ring.

Half Night of Prayer

The opportunity to meet together, as a church family, and pray is such an important part of life at Trinity Churches. Our next half night of prayer is on 24th November from 7pm to 11pm. We don’t expect people to come for the whole time (though it’s a blessing to do so!), but we would love to encourage folk to come for at least half an hour. There are regular breaks which make it easy to come and go. Please do put this in your diary and make it a priority to come and pray with the Church family; particularly as we seek God in this time of interregnum.  In the week that follows, we’ll be gathering on zoom at 9pm for Compline, or Night Prayer, which is a very meaningful way to end the day in prayer.
