If you have walked around the Glebe field you will have seen the amazing cross that has been set up (a big thank you to Andy Digby and team). This week is all about remembering, reflecting upon, and rejoicing in what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ. Over the last a couple of weeks I have had occasion to quote John 3:16 quite a few times as this short verse sums up what this week is all about:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Because of what Jesus has done for us we can have assurance of eternal life, but that is not all. Paul wrote in Colossians 1:22 ‘[God] has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.’ Through Jesus’ death we are reconciled to God, we are purified, made holy, and no longer burdened by the guilt or shame of sin.

As you walk around the Glebe field and reflect upon the cross, you will see some stones and pens. Why not take the time to write down the things that worry you, the burdens, or perhaps the things you need to confess, and leave them at the foot of the cross, knowing that Jesus has dealt with these and offers us forgiveness, peace, and love beyond anything we can think or imagine.

Then, come back on Sunday to hear how the story continues…

Renewal of the Electoral Roll: it’s time…

MB.jpg

Every six years, Anglican Churches up and down the country need to renew their Electoral Roll. This is essentially a list of those people who call Trinity Churches ‘home’ and ‘family’.

We are asking you to complete – either online or on paper – a form to either join, or to renew your membership of, the electoral roll. This isn’t just a paper exercise, but is a really important way of saying, ‘I belong’ to the life of the church both locally and nationally. It seeks to be an indication of the strength of church life, recording the amazing family of God who make up churches across England seeking to be a Christian presence in every community. We’ve done everything we can to make this process as smooth as possible.

Thank you so much to those of you who have already filled in the forms, and if you haven’t yet done yours then please do so this weekend.

Bible Course

We would love to invite you to join us for the Bible Course, an eight week long journey devised by the Bible Society which helps give the big picture of the Bible. This is genuinely accessible and helpful to you whether you’ve been following Jesus for years, or are simply exploring faith and would like to find out more. We are so excited about this that we’ll be running it three times each week from the week beginning 29th April: Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Trinity Centre (with a creche), Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Belle Vue, and Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Trinity Centre. You can find more information by clicking the link below…

Coming up: Evening Service focusing on the Assisted Dying
Bill

As many of us will be aware, the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is about to come back to the Commons for a third reading. In the evening service on Sunday 4th May we’ll have some time to reflect on this issue, and will hear from two members of Trinity Churches with first hand experience of being alongside people in their final stages of life. Derek Willis will speak from his experience as Medical Director of Severn Hospice, and Anne Roberts will give a pastoral response, drawing on her experience as a hospital and hospice chaplain and drawing on her personal story. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion, and all of this will take place within the context of worship as we break bread together.
