This is the time in the month when we hear about one of the charities that we support through our Mission, Relief and Development Fund giving.

Trinity Churches have been in mission partnership with Shrewsbury Youth for Christ (S-YFC) since the charity was established in 2005. S-YFC is a local Christian charity working with young people aged 11–18 across Shrewsbury and the surrounding area, with a simple mission: "We're about seeing young people's lives changed by Jesus."

The team, Ellie, Hannah and Joe, work in secondary schools and sixth form colleges, leading assemblies, RE lessons, lunchtime clubs, Christian Unions, drop-in groups and much more. SYFC also provides valuable pastoral support, building relationships with young people and helping them explore life, faith and the big questions they face within their schools.

There has been plenty of good news to celebrate over the past year! One young person the team mentored went from not attending any lessons to returning to all of them. A young person who first explored Christianity during a Christmas RE lesson has since joined their school's Christian Union. A school that had previously been reluctant to work with SYFC invited them to lead an assembly about the Christian faith. Meanwhile, one lunchtime drop-in group is bursting at the seams, with around 35 young people attending each week! All of this, within our local schools.

Prayer is an important part of S-YFC's work, and everyone is welcome at the monthly prayer breakfasts, held on the second Saturday of each month. These are opportunities to share stories, give thanks for what God is doing and pray for our local schools and the young people in them.

If you'd like to know more, including different ways you can support them you can do so by visiting their website syfc.org - but it's offline today for maintenance so I can't link to it! However, through this you are able to sign up to receive a regular monthly newsletter, as well as to find out more.

This Sunday, 25th October, we'll be continuing our series on the book of Ruth across our morning congregations. Our preacher at 9am, and 11am and CTK is Fi Iddon, with Nick Webb speaking at HTBV. The evening congregation will be continuing a journey through 2 Timothy, with Anne Roberts speaking. Trinity Youth will be meeting at the same time, upstairs in the Trinity Centre.

This Sunday is Welly Church for Trinity Kids and Pathfinders (who will be joining them as a special half term treat!) This means that both Trinity Kids and Pathfinders will need outdoor coats and shoes / boots as usual - but we are starting in Church this week before heading out to the Field.

Start Course

We are so pleased to be hosting the Start Course. This six week course, on Wednesday evenings from the start of November, gives space to ask and begin to answer some of the big questions about life and what it means to follow Jesus. If you would like to come, then please do sign up via the website or have a chat with us. And please do be thinking who you know who might be interested in coming along. There will be flyers available at the back of services on Sunday so you can use these to invite people.

For those who were expecting Alpha this term, we are offering that after Christmas.

Dare we say the C word! We promise not to talk too much about Christmas yet, but we would love to mention that we will be welcoming our usual Christmas stalls a little earlier this year, this Sunday between the 9am and 11am services and after the 11am. Please do come along and get ahead with some Christmas shopping!

These are really special times, with an opportunity to come together and remember those who we love but no longer see. Anyone is welcome to attend, and if you would like the name of someone read out and remembered then please do let us know.

Ministry leaders and wardens.jpg

And finally, a big thank you from me for all those who came along to the licensing service on Wednesday - and especially those who planned, prepared or were part of the service. What a privilege it is to walk this part of our journey as God's Big Family as vicar. This lovely photo of the wardens and (most of!) the ministry team is missing Kevin and Charles, along with the office staff and so many others who are part of 'Team Trinity'. Thank you to each and every one of the Trinity Churches family for being who you are - we are glad that you are here!
