Many of you will be aware of the Sweet Lake development off Longden Road, which is some of the newest housing in our parish.  We’ve been praying for this area for some time, seeking God’s wisdom and guidance as to how to be a visible presence as a Church in this area.

Keith and Amal Moore, our Pioneer Ministers, have begun pioneering some great work in the area.  They’ve been supported by CTK ‘praying’, the young adults’ small group ‘doing’ and residents of Sweet Lake ‘cheering’ them on and offering support.  Before Christmas we had a wonderful Open Air ‘Carols and mulled wine’.  February saw a Valentine’s ‘Cake and Hot Chocolate’ give away despite some really miserable weather!  We were blessed by wonderful weather for Pancakes in March, and we had a great time at the Easter Egg Hunt just a couple of weeks ago.

We would love you to join us in praying for this area and its residents.  We aren’t there with an ‘ulterior motive’ – people don’t have to listen to us talk about Jesus to get their pancakes or Easter Eggs! – but we do have an ‘ultimate hope and purpose’.  We’ve had some brilliant conversations, got to know people of all ages, and hopefully been part of creating a sense of community.  Please do join us in ‘Praying | Doing | Cheering’ this ministry on and do speak to the Moores for more information.  We’ll be praying for this area of our mission in our Sunday services through the month of May.

Grace and Peace

Fi Iddon, Associate Vicar

This Sunday, 4th May, we’ll be meeting across our congregations to worship together.

At our morning services, Gareth Evans will be speaking as we continue our theme looking at the work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament.   It’s Messy Church at Belle Vue at 9am, followed by Keith Moore leading Cafe Church.   At the 6.30pm service, Anne Roberts and Derek Willis will be hosting a special Presence, more details of which you’ll find below. Trinity Youth will NOT be meeting this week.

Evening Service focusing on the Assisted Dying Bill

As many of us will be aware, the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill is about to come back to the Commons for a third reading. In the evening service on Sunday we’ll have some time to reflect on this issue, and will hear from two members of Trinity Churches with first hand experience of being alongside people in their final stages of life. Derek Willis will speak from his experience as Medical Director of Severn Hospice, and Anne Roberts will give a pastoral response, drawing on her experience as a hospital and hospice chaplain and drawing on her personal story. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion, and all of this will take place within the context of worship as we break bread together.

Bible Course

There is still just about time to join the Bible Course, an eight week long journey devised by the Bible Society which helps give the big picture of the Bible. This is genuinely accessible and helpful to you whether you’ve been following Jesus for years, or are simply exploring faith and would like to find out more. This is running three times a week: Tuesday mornings at 9am in the Trinity Centre (with a creche), Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Belle Vue, and Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Trinity Centre. You can find more information by clicking the link below…

Festival of Hope

Our friends at Severn Loop Parishes have organised a ‘Festival of Hope’ from 27th April to 11th May. This features a Stations of the Resurrection Pilgrimage around their stunning rural churches. You can find out more about this, and the associated ‘Hope Filled Gallery’, by visiting their website.

Coming up: APCM

Our APCM, which is like an Annual General Meeting, takes place at 6.30pm on Sunday 18th May.  An Agenda is available on the church website, and we’ll be adding various other papers to it as they become available.  As part of this meeting, and the Vestry Meeting which precedes it, we elect church wardens.  I’m pleased that all three wardens have indicated that they are happy to stand again unless we as a church would like to put others forward.  We also have a vacancy for one District Warden to represent Christ the King.  In addition to this, if you would be interested in standing for PCC then do have a chat with one of the wardens or Ministry Leaders team…  There are nomination forms for both PCC and Church Wardens available on the website, as well as at the back of church.
