Sun, sea, sand, the sound of the waves gently lapping on the shore, a cold drink with a little umbrella in hand! That’s what many of us dream of when summer comes around – but sadly for many others that is all it will be – a dream. Due to finances, or health, or mobility issues, or life’s demands, for some a holiday just isn’t possible. That’s why every year we run Holiday at Home in the first week of August. The two-day event is jam packed with fun, laughter, activities, good food, and good company – there may even be colourful drinks complete with umbrellas. There are table activities, bingo where everyone wins a prize, quizzes, live music, afternoon teas, and a cooked two course meal, and a thought from the Bible each day.
The day after this we have our trip to Barmouth, which is open to anyone. A day to the seaside for fun in the sun complete with fish and chips for lunch! Last year over 100 people joined us. Thanks to the generosity of people at Trinity Churches several families, who would have struggled to have even a day trip, were able to have a fun day out together. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports Holiday at Home and the Barmouth trip. It really does make a difference to people and means a lot. It allows us as a church to be hospitable, generous, all-age, authentic, and pioneering as we look at new ways to include more people, to grow faith, proclaim hope, and live the love of Jesus.
Thank you.
Keith Moore, Pioneer Minister
If you would like to attend either of these events, or know someone who would enjoy them, or if you would like to help on the day, please get in touch via the church office.
This Sunday, 6th July, we’ll be looking at the theme of ‘Care for One Another’ in our morning services. At 9am, CTK and 11am we’ll be hearing from Fi Iddon. There is Messy Church at Belle Vue at 9am, followed by Cafe Church led by Nick Webb. In the evening, we’ll have our monthly Presence Communion and Phil and Liz will be sharing about their time in Afghanistan. Trinity Youth will be joining the evening service to hear Phil and Liz speak.
And from last week…
Thank you to all those of you who joined us for Ian’s Priesting last week. It was a very special day. Do continue praying for him, and also for Dave Latcham who began curacy at Severn Loop Parishes (with Hannah Lins) last Sunday.
Prayer Ministry
Our next prayer ministry training session, led by Alastair and Louise Magowan, will take place in church on Wednesday 16th July at 7.30pm. We want to be a church where we very naturally pray for one another and this training is useful for anyone and all are welcome. It is particularly appropriate for those who are invited to more formally become Prayer Ministers and who need to have attended this ‘post covid’ training. If you’ve been before to one of these then there is no need to come again, unless you would like to do so.
Thank you to all of you who have completed this training in the past, and for your patience in waiting for things to be finished and put in place. You will have received an email this week letting you know what the ‘next stage’ in the process is…and for those of you yet to do safeguarding training, please do make this a priority.

Fun in the Sun
We’re just confirming the last few dates for our annual ‘Fun in the Sun’ programme, but much is already up on the website, do take a look!

Short term Mission
Are you interested in getting involved in mission whether locally, across the UK, or overseas? Mission can take many forms: sharing your faith, caring for others in practical ways, tackling injustice, working with children or young people, and caring for creation, for example. Perhaps you’re a student who wants to take a Summer or gap year volunteering. Have skills you could use on a short term mission trip? Want to run an event? If you have ideas you’d like to talk about then the Mission Relief and Development committee would love to hear from you and look at how we can support you. You can get in touch with them via the Church Office.
Ride and Stride
This is an annual sponsorship event for the Shropshire Historic Churches which takes place in September each year. Half the funds raised by our church members go to our churches here in Meole Brace and Belle Vue, and the other half to the SHCT who have helped us to fund renovations in the past. Don’t worry; we aren’t going to be talking about this every week between now and September!
Alongside sponsoring people to walk or ride to as many churches as possible, this year we are also planning a cycle ride led by Andy Jowett, and a Treasure Hunt for families on another date as part of the Fun In The Sun programme.
We will need some volunteers to staff the church building on Saturday 13th September. If you would be able to help with welcome and serving refreshments for an hour or two, then please do get in touch with Helen Hinton in the Church Office.
