There is one more week of the school year to go… In the annual cycle of the school year, even those of us not in the system can feel the exhaustion of weary teachers and children.  One more week to go!

I know that not all of us live by the academic calendar, but the month of August gives us an opportunity to do things a bit differently.  Here at Trinity Churches, we are again hoping that we can have ‘Fun in the Sun’ together.  The first two events kick off this week for Trinity Youth, and others come hot on their heels.  It’s great to hear of small group socials and lots of opportunities to enjoy one another’s company over the weeks to come.  Thanks be to God who created us for rest as well as work!

Over the summer months, we’ll be once again looking at the Psalms in our morning services across the parish.  The Psalms frequently use the phrase ‘selah’ which many believe is best understood as invitation to pause and to reflect.  However we are spending these next few weeks, may we each have an opportunity to pause, reflect, and to appreciate the gift of one another.

Grace and Peace

Fi Iddon, Associate Vicar

This Sunday, 14th July, we’ll be looking at the theme of ‘Pray for One Another’ in our morning services.
At 9am and 11am our speaker will be Alistair Magowan (please note that we’ve had to make a rota change and this is not an All Age Service), with Brian Fisher speaker at CTK.  (Trinity Kids and Pathfinders are meeting together at the 11am.) At HTBV Fi Iddon will be leading the Preschool Graduation Service at 10.30am.  In the evening, Alistair Hornal will be speaking on ‘The Spirit in the mission of Jesus’ with Trinity Youth meeting at the same time upstairs.
Prayer Ministry

Prayer Ministry Training (1).jpg

Our next prayer ministry training session, led by Alastair and Louise Magowan, will take place in church this Wednesday 16th July at 7.30pm. We want to be a church where we very naturally pray for one another and this training is useful for anyone and all are welcome. It is particularly appropriate for those who are invited to more formally become Prayer Ministers and who need to have attended this ‘post covid’ training. If you’ve been before to one of these then there is no need to come again, unless you would like to do so.

Thank you to all of you who have completed this training in the past, and for your patience in waiting for things to be finished and put in place. We are hoping to issue our prayer ministry lanyards after PCC on Monday…and for those of you yet to do safeguarding training, please do make this a priority.

Fun in the Sun

Our annual ‘Fun in the Sun’ events are now on the website.  We’ll be kicking off this week with the younger Trinity Youth trying their luck at Bowling, and the older Trinity Youth heading to the Beach.  Do have a look to see what’s happening, and sign up to join us, we would love to see you!

Fun in the Sun events

Ride and Stride

Ride and Stride.png

This is an annual sponsorship event for the Shropshire Historic Churches which takes place in September each year. Half the funds raised by our church members go to our churches here in Meole Brace and Belle Vue, and the other half to the SHCT who have helped us to fund renovations in the past. Don’t worry; this is its last mention until the end of August!

Alongside sponsoring people to walk or ride to as many churches as possible, this year we are also planning a cycle ride led by Andy Jowett, and a Treasure Hunt for families on another date as part of the Fun In The Sun programme.

We will need some volunteers to staff the church building on Saturday 13th September. If you would be able to help with welcome and serving refreshments for an hour or two, then please do get in touch with Helen Hinton in the Church Office.

News from Illuminate

Christine Coleman, who has been the Manager of Illuminate for many years, is soon to retire.  For those of you who would like to pop in and thank her, there will be an opportunity to do so on 26th July when you are invited to drop into the shop for coffee and cake.  At Trinity Churches, we wish Christine every blessing for her retirement.

PCC Meeting

Please do pray for PCC who meet on Monday night and will, among other things, be looking at the first draft of the Parish Profile.  As promised, we will be finding a way to publish a shortened version of these minutes after the meeting.
