It's the week in the month when we hear from our Mission Relief and Development Committee about areas of mission both at home and abroad... Today we hear from Claire Nye, a member of the 6.30pm congregation.

In November Kevin Roberts and I travelled to Burundi in East Africa with a SOMA UK team (Sharing of Ministries Abroad). At the invitation of Bishop Pontien, we had the privilege of running a conference for the Diocese of Rutana. We led a programme of teaching, prayer ministry and sharing testimony with different groups over a week-long programme: pastors, their wives, lay people and young people from across the diocese.

It was a joy to experience how God can use each of us with our different skills and gifts to work effectively as a team to help others learn more about God, encourage them in their ministries and encounter the Holy Spirit in a fresh and powerful way.

On Sunday we were invited to the Cathedral where we enjoyed incredible African worship, Kevin preached and we all shared testimony. A first for me, talking in front of 1000 people! The singing and dancing was amazing and we heard later in the week that members of the congregation were surprised to see the white English people dance along with them!

We all learnt so much from the people we served who demonstrated incredible faith and hope despite having so little, Burundi is the poorest country in the world.

We learnt a lot, laughed a lot and flew back very tired but very excited about what we had seen God do through us and what he might do back home in Shrewsbury. We have so much to learn from the church in Burundi and I'm so pleased that I was able to see that first hand.

Grace and Peace

Praying for the vacancy process

As the process for appointing the next vicar of Trinity Churches is less than a week away, please do remember that you are welcome to join the prayer at 10.25 in the Fiwila Room this Sunday. The parish reps will also be holding an hour's prayer this Monday 23rd February at 6.30pm, in the Bradbury Hall in advance of the familiarisation and interview days on Tuesday and Wednesday

We would like to cover the time of the familiarisation day and interviews in prayer, so with that in mind we have set up half hour 'pray at home' slots. You can sign up for one of these by using the link below, or at church on Sunday. We are so thankful for all those of us who are committed to praying for the process of appointing our new Vicar.

Lent

Lent 2026 (Presentation).jpg

This Lent we are continuing our commitment to go deeper in corporate prayer with a different opportunity for prayer each week. These take place at different times and are led by different people, and so there is something for all ages and stages of faith. Coming up over the next few weeks are a Prayer and Worship Night (see below), Prayer for the interviews on Monday, and then Silent Prayer on Tuesday 3rd March.

The lights leading to the Trinity Centre, and in the Cloister, are currently out of order. We've rigged up some temporary lights while we await their repair, but please do take care when coming into the Centre in the dark.
