Our Praying, Doing, Cheering theme for this month is our work with Baptism Families.
Last night we held one of our Baptism preparation sessions for families who are hoping to bring children for baptism over the next months. We hold these online because we've found it's much easier for parents (no babysitter needed!) and because it allows for great attendance from godparents, too. Over 80 minutes, we have the privilege of exploring the Christian faith together through a mixture of quizzes, videos, discussion time, break out sessions and we finish with Cerys beautifully telling the story of the Prodigal Son, and the invitation to each of us to receive the love of God.
We probably have good contact with around 75% of our baptism families, whether as members of the church family, part of Trinity Tots or Little Buds, or Messy Church families. The Church of England does not allow us to refuse or delay baptism 'save for the purpose of preparing or instructing the parents or guardians or godparents' and we have a strong open-door policy; such services are an incredible opportunity to speak of the love of Jesus. We can trust that Jesus is at work in the lives of even the very smallest babies, and all the research into the spirituality of children shows this to be the case.
Many of our baptisms take place over Sunday lunchtime and so are unseen by most of us. But please do be praying for these families. Over the next couple of months we will be baptising or dedicating Z, V, D, O, A and L. We would also love to find a way of keeping this connection with our families on a longer-term basis and are open to exploring what this might look like. This Sunday, 5th July, we'll be continuing our current sermon series on Hebrews in our morning services. Our preacher at 9am, CTK and 11am will be Alistair Magowan. Holy Trinity, Belle Vue will be hosting Messy Church at 9am, followed by Cafe Church led by Fi Iddon. The evening service, at 6.30pm, will be continuing the journey through 1 Timothy with Judith Drury speaking. Trinity Youth will be meeting upstairs in the Trinity Centre as usual.
Mediterranean Evening
Come and join us on Friday 17th July for a Mediterranean meal as part of our 'Fun in the Sun' programme. Melo's kitchen is partnering with the Trinity Centre to offer a three course meal with live music. Evening Service congregation, don't forget that on 19th July we'll be having 'Church and Cake' with bring and share puddings or cakes from 6.15pm and then a shorter, cafe style service after some important fellowship time together.

Supporting Disaster Relief in Venezuela
Our weekly email last Friday reminded us that our Mission, Relief and Development Committee are able to respond quickly to world wide emergency need using funds that we 'ring fence' for such purposes. This week, Standing and Finance approved a gift of £750 to Christian Aid to help with relief work following the earthquake in Venezuela.
Tea Towel Rota
If you've ever washed up in the Trinity Centre, then you will know that there is always a supply of clean tea towels which makes life so much easier. We are so grateful to all those who are part of the tea towel rota. We used to have so many people on this that each person only took the tea towels a couple of times a year. But we could do with refreshing this rota to make sure that this remains the case. If you would be interested in helping out, then please contact Helen in the office, or fil in the form below.

New Lay Reader - in training - at Trinity Churches
And finally, we've left the best news until last! We announced last week at the evening service that David Bevan, who is a member of that congregation, has been selected for Lay Minister training and will begin this in September. We are so grateful to him for responding to God's call in this way, and pray for David and Penny for this next step of the journey.
