It's been a wonderfully busy and energising week across Trinity Churches, full of moments where food has been shared, friendships strengthened, and people warmly welcomed. These moments matter because hospitality sits at the very heart of how Jesus revealed God's love. Jesus didn't build barriers; he built tables. He created spaces where people felt seen, valued, and invited into something life‑giving.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus' welcome consistently surprised and transformed. He shared meals with tax collectors and those pushed to the edges of society. He welcomed children with delight when others tried to send them away. He sat at a well with a Samaritan woman who expected rejection and instead found dignity and hope. He stepped into Zacchaeus' home before anything had changed, showing that belonging comes before believing. Every encounter revealed a love that was generous, inclusive, and always making room for one more.

That same spirit is alive and flourishing among us. The Beat the January Blues Party lifted spirits and reminded people they are not alone. Trinity Table and Radbrook Afternoon Tea continue to offer warmth and welcoming spaces to share stories and enjoy good company. Messy Church creates joyful space for families to belong, explore faith, and grow together. And Big Sunday Lunch gathers all ages around shared tables, turning an ordinary meal into a celebration of community and connection. These aren't just events: they are glimpses of God's kingdom, where welcome heals, restores, and draws people home.

You're warmly invited to join in. The next Big Sunday Lunch takes place on 8th February, and Radbrook Afternoon Tea will be held on Wednesday 18th February at 2pm at the Community Centre. Every shared table and open door continues Jesus' life‑giving pattern of hospitality, with love that transforms lives and communities from the inside out.

This Sunday, 8th January, we'll be continuing our sermon series 'Prayers of the Bible' and will be thinking about Jonah's Prayer from the Depths. Our preacher at 9am and CTK will be Charles Ruxton, with Fi Iddon at HTBV and the All Age Team leading at 11am. Annali will be speaking at the evening service on the display of God's Glory on the Cross. Trinity Youth will be meeting upstairs in the Trinity Centre at 6.30pm.

As we continue to pray for the process of appointing the next vicar of Trinity Churches please do remember that you are welcome to join the prayer at 10.25 in the Fiwila Room each week, and before the evening service on 8th February. Whether or not you are able to attend these prayer gatherings, please do keep this vacancy process in your own prayers.

Ash Wednesday

We'll be marking Ash Wednesday with a service of Holy Communion on Wednesday 18th February at 7pm in the Bradbury Hall. There will be the opportunity for those who would like to do so to receive the imposition of ashes during this service.

Lent

This Lent we are continuing our commitment to go deeper in corporate prayer with a different opportunity for prayer each week. These take place at different times and are led by different people, and so there is something for all ages and stages of faith.

The first of our season of Lent opportunities is a Prayer and Worship night in the Bradbury Hall hosted by the young adults on Friday 20th January. All are welcome.

Board Game Evening

Our next Board Game Evening also takes place that weekend. You are welcome to bring a favourite game to play, or there are plenty to share with others. There will be soft drinks available, but do bring snacks if you would like! You can sign up below, or simply come along.

And finally we wanted to mention that a group of us from Trinity attend the New Wine Festival each year at the end of July. It's great fun for all ages, with a lovely mix of fabulous spiritual input, but also time to enjoy one another's company. You can find out more on the New Wine website below...
