A couple of years ago, we went with a group of friends to a vegan restaurant for breakfast and to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had a wonderful breakfast and had brought a birthday cake to celebrate. The restaurant manager asked us if the cake was vegan to which we replied 'no'. To our surprise he said we could use the cake to sing 'Happy Birthday' but we were not allowed to eat the cake in the restaurant.
My initial reaction was to be shocked, but soon afterwards my feelings turned to huge admiration for the manager, and the restaurant, for standing firm in their beliefs and values. This made me reflect upon my own actions and whether they reflect my beliefs and values, or whether I crumble under pressure and start to compromise.
As Christians we are called to 'walk the talk', but during the walk we may face huge pressures from our own family, friends, culture, workplace and the list goes on. These pressures may challenge us in every way to comprise our beliefs and values and will make the walk even narrower. However, Jesus is very clear that it is the narrow road that leads to life. "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (Matthew 7:13-14) This challenges us to be a Church, the body of Christ, that lives as a shining, guiding light in a world full of confusion.

We're also highlighting the Summer Walk on Wednesday 29th July. We'll be meeting at 7pm for a prompt start from the car park of the New Inn in Hook a Gate for a two hour circular walk. Tuesday morning small group
We are really delighted to have a group of people, many of them new Christians or those exploring faith, reading the Bible together on Tuesday mornings. Several of them are parents of preschoolers and this term we've been able to offer a creche. We would love to continue to do this, so if you have a DBS and safeguarding training – or are happy to have a conversation about what this looks like – and would like to support this important new ministry then please do speak to Keith Moore or give the church office a ring.
PCC
Please do be praying for our PCC meeting on Monday evening - with several new members elected at the APCM. And a reminder that PCC minutes appear on the church website and you can view them there.
Tea Towel Rota
If you've ever washed up in the Trinity Centre, then you will know that there is always a supply of clean tea towels which makes life so much easier. We are so grateful to all those who are part of the tea towel rota. We used to have so many people on this that each person only took the tea towels a couple of times a year. But we could do with refreshing this rota to make sure that this remains the case. If you would be interested in helping out, then please contact Helen in the office, or fil in the form below.
