As we head towards the fourth Sunday of the month, our focus is on one of our mission partners…

CTK’s ‘mission partner’ is ReSource, the ministry that I was privileged to be national Director of for six years up to my retirement and in which I am still actively involved. ReSource has been around since 2004, but its origins reach back to the early 1980s as Anglican Renewal Ministries and before that to The Fountain Trust which operated across the denominations in the heady days of the charismatic renewal.

ReSource’s focus hasn’t changed from those early days. We still work predominately in the Church of England, across its traditions. We have a particular heart for the ‘little, local and ordinary’ churches that make up the majority of churches in England. And we work with congregations and church leaders helping them to engage with the Holy Spirit as the source of the kind of vitality and spiritual reality that renews disciples and churches and turns them outwards to make a difference in the world.

Our vision is to see churches Alive in the Spirit and Active in Mission.

Today ReSource runs national, local and online retreats, which we often call ‘Sanctuary Days’, days spent seeking and meeting God in the power of the Spirit. It has a series of excellent courses and materials on Holy-Spirit focused themes. And it runs the Alongside Scheme supporting church leaders who are seeking to lead their churches into deeper renewal. We also have a team of intercessors who pray for Holy Spirit renewal across the nation and who undergird ReSource events with listening prayer.

So, on behalf of ReSource’s Director, Christopher Landau, his staff and Trustees Thank You for supporting us. With ‘the quiet revival’ bubbling away in the UK, ReSource may have a crucial role to play, ‘at such a time as this’.

Grace and Peace

Kevin Roberts, ReSource Minister

This Sunday, 22nd June, we’ll be meeting across our congregations to worship together.
At our morning services we’ll be thinking about what it means to ‘forgive one another’, with Fi Iddon speaking at 9am and 11am, Peter Madley speaking at CTK and Ian Budd is preaching at HTBV.  On Sunday evening, Annali Hindle will be speaking on how the Spirit makes us more like Jesus. Trinity Youth will also be meeting at 6.30pm this Sunday, upstairs in the Trinity Centre.

Ian’s Priesting: Joint Service next Sunday 29th June at 10.30am

What a joy it will be to host the ordination to Priesting of our very own Ian Budd on Sunday 29th June at a joint service at 10.30am. There will be no other morning services across the parish that week (though the evening service will be meeting at 6.30pm). We’ll be following this with a ‘bring and share’ church family lunch, and you can let us know that you are coming by clicking the link below:

Parish Profile Working Group

As you will know, a group have begun work on preparing our parish profile, which acts a little like a job description for our new vicar.

As well as direct approaches to groups and ministries, there will be two open meetings held on Wednesday 25th June – at 2pm (in the back of church) and at 7pm (in the Bradbury Hall) – and anyone is welcome to attend these.

Let’s keep being a church that is praying for the vacancy process, and listening to how the Lord is speaking to us.

Photography in Church

Hannah Moore photo.jpg

A reminder that Hannah Moore (pictured above) will be at CTK and Holy Trinity  this Sunday taking some photos for the parish profile. As we’ve already talked and emailed about, there will be an area for those who don’t wish to be caught on camera to sit, and we won’t use any photos of under 18s without specific permission. Hannah will be the only one using a camera, and will have a lanyard on, but we’ve included her photo so that you know who she is. Hannah has great awareness of the sensitivities around photography involving children and young people. If you have any questions, please do speak to Fi, or to one of the wardens.

Summer Welcome event

Welcome evening.jpg

Our summer welcome event for those who are new, or feeling new, takes place on Monday 30th June at 7.30pm in the Trinity Centre. We’ll be getting some invitations out in the next week or so, but you can sign up below if you would like to come – we would love to see you!

Prayer Ministry

Prayer Ministry Training (1).jpg

Our next prayer ministry training session, led by Alastair and Louise Magowan, will take place in church on Wednesday 16th July at 7.30pm.  We want to be a church where we very naturally pray for one another and this training is useful for anyone and all are welcome.  It is particularly appropriate for those who are invited to more formally become Prayer Ministers and who need to have attended this ‘post covid’ training. If you’ve been before to one of these then there is no need to come again, unless you would like to do so.

Thank you to all of you who have completed this training in the past, and for your patience in waiting for things to be finished and put in place.  We are almost there! It’s been a lot of ‘background work’ and for those of you who haven’t yet completed Safeguarding training, please do make this a priority.

Confirmation Service

Advance notice that we will be holding a Confirmation Service on Sunday 20th July during the 11am service. If you are interested in affirming your faith through confirmation during this service then please do speak to one of the ministry leaders team.

Playhouse in the Cloister

Our wonderful playhouse in the Trinity Centre Cloister could do with a bit of TLC! If anyone is able to offer to sand and re-paint it (and possibly fix one of the wooden panels) this would be very much appreciated: please do get in touch with the office if you can help.  Obviously, all costs will be covered.

For your prayers

Please pray for Vicky, Jo and Abi as we give thanks for the life of our dear friend Frank Barnes this Thursday, 26th July, with a service at the Crematorium at 1.15pm followed by a celebration of his life in Church at 2.30pm.  All are very welcome to attend either or both services.
