This is the point in the month when we focus on an area of our giving as a church family.
Trinity Kids were excited to welcome Neville Willerton to talk to us a few weeks ago. Nev works as the Head of Strategic Partnerships for Compassion UK. Compassion is a Christian child development charity that exists to lift children out of poverty in Jesus' name. Compassion works through the local church to provide for the needs of the whole child - including their education, wellbeing, healthy eating and spiritual development. Today, more than 2.4 million children in receive education, healthcare, and life-changing support tailored to their individual needs through Compassion.
Thea (age 6) was at Trinity Kids that day and writes
Nev taught us about countries that need help with water. Some people have to walk long distances to fetch their water and sometimes there isn't enough. He taught us that we need to show compassion and help people in need.
The children were deeply moved to hear about the difficulties that children their age face in other parts of the world. Amelia (age 6) describes feeling scared and worried for the children, and sad and upset about their situation.
As we learn to be more like Jesus at Trinity Kids, we want to be generous, and the children thoughtfully chose to support a child in Ghana. We are delighted to have started sponsorship of a 6-year-old girl called Korkor through Compassion, and we are eagerly awaiting our first update from her.
If you would like to know more about the work of Compassion, do speak to Neville.
Grace and Peace
Neville Willerton, Cerys Hughes and Trinity Kids
This Sunday, 24th May, we'll be celebrating Pentecost across the parish. Our preacher at 9am and 11am will be Charles Ruxton, with Shirley Stevens speaking at CTK. Ian Budd will be speaking at HTBV. The evening service will also be celebrating Pentecost, with Kevin Roberts speaking on the theme, 'They spoke in other tongues.' Trinity Youth will also be meeting at 6.30pm.
It's Welly Sunday for Trinity Kids but, because it is Pentecost, we will be starting in church together. As well as suitable outdoor shoes, you may want to apply suncream and bring along a hat. (What a lovely sentence to be able to type!)
Confirmation
This great photo from last year's Confirmation service reminds us that we'll be holding one again on Sunday 19th July. If you would be interested in being confirmed, then please do have a chat with one of the team. We would love to talk to you!
Sunday Social
Advance notice that next Sunday, 31st May, is our termly 'Sunday Social'. This means that we'll have a slightly shorter service, in order to have a longer time of fellowship together after the morning services, across the parish. Being family together is such an important part of our worship, and so this is a good thing to do (with some extra delicious treats!) from time to time.
Threads Exhibition
The 9am service are hosting a trip to see the Threads Exhibition at Chester Cathedral on Tuesday 16th June. Everyone is welcome to join them. This is the largest textile project for 600 years, depicting Creation, the Cross and Revelation on 44 panels. You can find out more about it by visiting the Threads Exhibition website itself, and you can sign up for this trip (£25pp to include coach travel and tea / coffee cake in the afternoon) below. We'll be leaving Meole at 9.30am, and returning around 6.30pm (after Choral Evensong).
